10 years now in the Twin Cities music scene, Gel continues to deliver the fun alternative music and driving hard rock they have been known for.  Their addictive on-stage energy, diverse musicianship, sound samples, and ever-constant humor have made them one of the most sought after groups in the area.  Voted “Best Rock Band” in the 2002 City Pages, and nominated for “Best Cover Band” in the 2003 Minnesota Music Awards, Gel have proven themselves as a band to be noticed.

Original members Jim (bass guitar & backing vocals) and Eric (drums and backing vocals) have been the solid rhythm section since Gel’s inception in 2001.  Their continued consistency and understanding of what makes Gel a ROCK BAND, has been vital in maintaining the group’s success and continued growth.  EJ (guitar & backing vocals), returns to GEL after a 2+ year absence.  The opportunity to get EJ back into the group seemed almost too good to be true.  "We were rather worried about having to go through the auditioning/hiring process again, after Dave put in his notice" said Eric, Gel's longtime drummer.  "Fortunately, we'd heard that EJ was stepping down from his position in the local band Rhino, and we didn't waste any time offering him his vacated seat."  EJ's extraordinary ability and style on guitar contribute greatly. Plus, his vocal abiltities give the band the opportunity to showcase 3 to 4 part vocal harmonies - something not usually found in a four-piece group. Frontman Mike, now a year and counting(!) lends his powerful and diverse voice to the ensemble.  Not for the faint of heart, Mike's attitude and vocal power are definitive in what makes a true Rock Band.

Forging ahead into the next decade with their wide-variety song list, high-energy, and guaranteed good time show, Gel continue to to be one of Minnesota's must-see bands.
